At Marjorie Mathieu’s… scent of a woman

The wide and extremely lit lounge is the mistress of the house’s favorite. It is a case, a refuge in harmony with the personality of this woman defined by comfort, luxury and fantasy.

Bohemian, chic spirit, glamor, ultra-womanly, girlie… at Marjorie Mathieu’s, the creator of Lollipops fashionable accessories, the velvety barock’n'roll is brought to slide through the skin of sweet or acid colors, skillfully dosed.

To create this impression of a passage without dividing the lounge, Marjorie Mathieu just put on a soft curtain (on the right), behind the couch.

When the guests room at the end of the apartment is vacant, it is used as a refuge for working or relaxing without any disturbances. Few furnitures and Chinese items, small tables filled with traveler’s souvenirs, tinsels, pillows scattered everywhere: each piece is an entertainment.

The kitchen, very functional, with an island in the middle, created to fit what it is without any doubt the piece of resistance of the apartment! Marjorie loves to receive guests and here is the place where the gourmand dinners are cooked.

At the first glance the building is not extraordinary: an end of 19th century facade, with a wide part with stained glass, an entry hallway resembling the entry of a railway station with all the people coming and going and with offices at every floor… Yes, but it looks like here, at the last floor, Marjorie Mathieu found her refuge!

Having a breathtaking view over the facades and the roofs of the neighboring buildings, placed in the very downtown, with its nice proportions, old floorings and fireplace of enameled faïence… this apartment has everything it needs to be liked. Mother of 2 children, yet always ready to organize good parties with her friends, she transformed the apartment to make it functional.

“I wanted a livable apartment, where one can move around, run, slide, dance.” The space was re-designed to organize the two rooms for the children at one side, a wide lounge (a real beating heart of this place), her room and all the functional pieces at the other side. And all keeping in mind the great priority of this ‘fashion addict’: big closets everywhere. In the decorations field, Marjorie is a real pleasure.

For decorations, she likes the girlie, bohemian and glamor spirit, a true reflection of her personality that she finds in her creations. The walls and the furniture reveal a nice colors palette: blue turquoise in her room and kitchen, white and mauve in the lounge, pale gray in friends’ room, pink and flashy green on her daughter’s room… these shades change following the rhythm of the seasons and of her mood! But Marjorie adores especially pink (chosen for the bathroom), often the color of the accessories she created in her designer’s life. The items and the “fetish” furnitures have been brought from the many travels, flea-markets, luxury shops. Each of them reminds her of a moment in her life, as for example the golden fish, a market in Bangkok, the crystal globe, the meeting with a clairvoyant, the lamps with feathers, the parties with the friends… In short, all her objects, even the most ordinary ones, have a sentimental value. A cheerful mix and spontaneous of eerie curtains, feathers, mirrors, candles and silk pillows. A universe that is reflected in the decoration of the many Lollipops shops (her brand) in Europe.

Animated by her passion for fashion Marjorie Mathieu creates just as she breathers: bags, shoes, jewelry… and, of course, she is inspired by her creations when decorating her apartment… and all the way around! One thing is certain: this young artist’s art of living is full of vitality and color. A bustling mix of ideas flirting with the kitsch and joins the spirit of a boudoir to the pin-ups spirit of the 1950s, a dose of rock and a lot of fantasy. A cheerful and girlie corner.

In her room, Marjorie placed her bed in the middle to take advantage of the space between the walls. The bed post is doubled by the thin curtain. In one of the corners, a picture of Bowie near the small commode with jewelry.

The room of the young woman opens straight to the personal bathroom which resemble a fashionable boudoir.

In Marjorie’s daughter’s room there is a whirl of bright, cheerful colors: a delicious Bollywood!
